    What is Corian?

    Corian is an advanced composite material consisting of aluminium tri-hydrate and resin enriched with coloured pigments. It is solid and resistant to heat and impact, yet extremely ductile: it can be carved, milled or machined like wood.

    Main features:

    • non-absorbent: it does not absorb, and can therefore be easily cleaned with a damp cloth, sponge and mild detergent;
    • environmentally friendly and hygienic: it is a non-porous material. It is compact throughout its thickness and can be installed with imperceptible joints that make the surface absolutely hygienic. Corian is therefore suitable for use in the kitchen and for contact with food;
    • restorable: surfaces can be renewed and restored to their original appearance with a normal mild detergent and an abrasive sponge;
    • non-toxic: it is an inert, non-toxic material. When exposed to normal temperatures, it does not release gases;
    • thermoformable: it can be made with curved surfaces.

    Why are Ristoattrezzature's food contact articles made of 18/10 steel (AISI 304)?

    MOCA are defined as those items intended to come into contact with foodstuffs (kitchen and tableware, containers, food processing machinery, packaging materials, etc.). This term also refers to materials and utensils that come into contact with water, excluding fixed public or private water supply installations.

    MOCAs are regulated by both national and European measures. As far as the EU framework is concerned, Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 (framework standard) lays down the general requirements to be met by all such materials and articles, while specific measures contain detailed provisions for individual materials (plastics, ceramics, etc.). In particular, the regulation stipulates that all materials and articles must be produced in accordance with good manufacturing practice and, under normal or foreseeable conditions of use, must not transfer components to food in quantities that

    • constitute a danger to human health
    • bring about an unacceptable change in the composition of the foodstuffs
    • lead to a deterioration of organoleptic characteristics.

    AISI 304 stainless steel, as specified in EC Regulation 1935/2004, is the most suitable material to come into contact with foodstuffs. Therefore, Ristoattrezzature has made the ethical choice to safeguard the wellbeing of its customers by proposing, in its shop, for those items intended for food preparation, exclusively 18/10 stainless steel equipment (EN X 5 CrNi 18-10, equivalent to the US standard AISI 304, with 17-19.5% chromium, 8-10.5% nickel and other trace elements such as phosphorus, sulphur, manganese, silicon) to guarantee total hygienic safety.

    For all other categories of catering equipment that do not come into direct contact with food, such as wall units, shelves, hoods, larder cabinets, as required by current law,430 stainless steel is used.

    The worktops of the professional bar counters, which we have selected for you, have a thickness of 8 tenths; the structure relating to the legs or fixing brackets, on the other hand, has a thickness of 15 tenths.

    What does refrigeration mean?

    Refrigeration is a food preservation method that consists of keeping products at a low temperature, without freezing the water inside the food. To do this, food is kept at a temperature of between 0°C and 10°C. In addition to temperature, the storage space must also be taken into account, and in particular, humidity: an unsuitable environment can lead to unpleasant consequences such as: loss of product characteristics, development of harmful micro-organisms, withering or browning. Keeping the appliance spaces perfectly clean will ensure proper air circulation inside the cells or walls, which is essential for the machinery to function properly.
