When is the use of approved scales mandatory?

According to the NAWI directive, it is necessary to have an approved scale in the following cases

commercial activities, stationary or itinerant, where the net weight of what is sold determines the price;
in places where the determination of mass is decisive for the calculation of any tariff, premium or fine;
in laboratories that manufacture medicines or make them up on prescription, as in the case of pharmacies with a galenical laboratory;
in cases where the determination of weight is essential for the application of legislative or regulatory provisions;
weighing of containers;
weighing of waste at collection, storage, disposal and recycling centres;

In these and other cases provided for by law, it is indispensable to use approved scales, i.e. approved or marked by the metric manufacturer, i.e. the manufacturer. In fact, even for uses that are not strictly subject to this standard, it is still advisable to purchase an approved scale that will guarantee a higher level of performance and greater reliability. Once the scale has been purchased, the user, in order to comply with legal obligations, must notify the competent Chamber of Commerce of its commissioning within 30 days from the date of commencement of use of the instrument.
